AMT cruises

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAErica Goetze and Katja Peijnenburg have been collaborating for several years on zooplankton evolutionary ecology, and participated together on the Atlantic Meridional Transect Cruise in 2012 (AMT22).  We conducted routine zooplankton sampling 1-2X per day, for quantitative plankton collections, obtaining material for population genomics/genetics and morphological analyses, and for live collections for egg production experiments (copepods).  During this cruise, Katja also coordinated a substantial science outreach component, including a science blog targeting children and recording of quite a lot of video, which ended up being shown on a  prime-time news slot upon return to the Netherlands ( go Katja !  Who gets to talk about ocean acidification at prime time on national news ? ). You can find Katja’s earlier blog, with a selection of our zooplankton images and text (in Dutch though !) here.
